If you have a water leak, fix it promptly. Pests are attracted to a water source. Interestingly, they sense a water leak, even from a good distance away. Do not be the reason that you are being invaded by pests. Try to save yourself some trouble ahead of time. Stuff steel wool into holes that pests could enter through. Even if the pests manage to chew through it, the steel wool will end up killing them. Stuff any opening that is bigger than one half inch. Remember that rodents can get through very tiny openings.

Take the trash out frequently. The more work you put into it, the better. Put some mint around the house to keep mice away. Plant mint outside around your home’s foundation. It will keep mice from wanting to settle in there. Mint leaves are a great tool when trying to ward off mice. While this will usually do, make sure you also use the freshest mint leaves.
Look around your house for any cracks or places that pests could enter, and seal them right away. Oftentimes, these openings can be a great entrance for pests that seek to enter your home. They will be locked out tight if you seal up these small openings.
